Martin Corbally is Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland — Bahrain, Chief of Staff and Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at King Hamad University Hospital, Bahrain. Professor Corbally’s expertise in neonatal surgery, paediatric hepatobiliary surgery, paediatric surgical oncology, surgical education, hospital administration risk management is world-class. He maintains an active role in the teaching of undergraduates and postgraduate trainees in Paediatric Surgery. He has been actively involved, since 2003, in an outreach programme between the Children’s Hospital Number 2, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam, the Royal College of Surgeons, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin and the Christina Noble Foundation to provide skills enhancement for doctors and nurses in HCMC. In 2007 this programme was extended to Muhimbili National Hospital, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
