August 17th, 2022 Successful return to clinical visits in Tanzania

Operation Childlife volunteers made their first post-pandemic visits to the Muhimbili National Hospital, Dar es Salaam in June and July.  The volunteer team included paediatric surgeons and an anaesthetist and a plastic surgeon.  Several surgeries and interventions were completed, including the separation of conjoined twins without any complications.  Operation Childlife is grateful to Cook Biotech who generously donated their biologic graft ‘Surgisis’ essential to this surgery.

During the trip to Tanzania Professor Martin Corbally and the OCL team, together with their Tanzanian surgical colleagues, attended a reception hosted by the Irish Ambassador to Tanzania, her Excellency Mary O’Neill (pictured).
